Inkling Design (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates inklingdesign.ca. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to it. By using our website, you agree to the practices described below.

  • Contact form submissions (name, email address, message) via Gravity Forms
  • Email address and related details when you opt into our mailing list or lead magnets
  • Booking information (name, email, any details you submit) when you schedule a call via Calendly
  • Payment information when you purchase services (processed directly by Stripe; we do not store your card details)

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data such as pages visited, time on site, referring URLs, and browser/device type, collected via Google Analytics
  • IP address and approximate location (city/region level) via Google Analytics
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries and communicate about potential or active projects
  • Send marketing emails or content you opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Schedule and manage consultations and meetings
  • Process payments for services rendered
  • Analyze website traffic and improve site performance
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party tools that may collect or process your data under their own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics

  • Calendly

  • Stripe
    Used to process payments. Stripe collects and processes your payment card information directly. We do not receive or store full card details on our servers. Stripe’s Privacy Policy: https://stripe.com/privacy

4. Cookies

Our website uses cookies, primarily through Google Analytics, to track site usage and improve user experience. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect certain site functionality.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Contact form submissions and email list data are retained until you request deletion or unsubscribe. Booking records are retained for up to two years. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, we process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Consent: Where you have opted into email marketing or submitted a contact form
  • Contract: Where processing is necessary to deliver services you have engaged us for, including processing payments and scheduling
  • Legitimate Interests: For website analytics to improve our site, where those interests are not overridden by your data protection rights

You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

7. Your Rights

All visitors

Regardless of where you are located, you may:

  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Withdraw consent for email marketing at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” in any email

EU/EEA residents (GDPR)

  • Data portability: Receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Restriction of processing: Request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
  • Object to processing: Object to processing based on legitimate interests

8. International Data Transfers

Inkling Design is based in Canada, which the European Commission has recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection for personal data transferred from the EU/EEA.

Some of our third-party service providers (including Google, Calendly, and Stripe) are based in the United States and process data there. These providers rely on standard contractual clauses or other GDPR-approved transfer mechanisms when processing data from EU/EEA residents.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.

11. Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
