So, you’re looking for the perfect font for your project – where should you be looking? There are a lot of fonts out there so it can be overwhelming.

Here are my suggestions on where to start your search for the perfect font:

1. Try Google Fonts first.

There are a lot of free font options and you may find something that fits perfectly with your brand or vision. If you find it overwhelming, sort the fonts by most popular and see if anything in the first 10-20 fonts feels like a good fit. Sticking with the most popular fonts can remove some of the overwhelm since you know other people are using them so they are more likely to be on-trend, readable, and practical.

2. If you have an adobe subscription try Adobe Fonts.

Because it is a paid platform there is a larger variety of professional and premium fonts available.

3. Don’t be afraid to pay for fonts.

You can find some inexpensive fonts at places like designcuts.com, creativemarket.com or myfonts.com – where for as little as $15 (and typically well under $100) you can find a larger variety of creative fonts that have a lot more personality that anything you will find on Google. Because it’s paid you will have a far more unique font. Make sure you read the terms of use of any font you are purchasing. Some fonts have separate licenses for use on websites vs use in branding, print marketing materials, or e-books.

There are lots of options from free to paid, from classic/simple to more creative fonts. If you’re having trouble narrowing down your search, start bookmarking or screenshotting the ones you like and revisit them a few days later and see which one really draws you in.

Where have you found great fonts?
