One thing that can help your website before the end of the year

Tips & Tricks, Websites

Read time: 2 minutes

Sometimes it feels overwhelming when you know your website needs help but you are not sure where to begin. Here is something you can do now that will help you feel more confident that your website will be a great marketing and sales tool for your business going into 2024.

Spend five minutes going through your website

Put yourself in your dream client’s shoes – why are they visiting your website? If you have a service or product that is solving a problem for them, they need to immediately feel that:

  • You fully understand their problem
  • You have a solution
  • You are the best person to guide them to this solution

In 30 seconds or less, can you find the solution to your dream client’s problem and the next action they need to take on your website? This should be on the home page.

Sometimes the next action is to purchase a physical product, sometimes it is to book a call or sign up for a free offer, but in any instance it should be quick and easy.

If you are trying to share too much information on your home page or trying to appeal to too many different clients with different needs, you may be missing the opportunity to connect with your dream clients.

The quick fix

Make sure you have a clear call to action on your home page – this should be the one thing you want people to do next. Any other content on the page should help support people in making the decision to take that next step.

Your next steps

  1. Identify your biggest goal right now (this can change depending on the season, whether you are leading up to a launch, growing your email list, etc)
  2. Have prominent content that supports this goal (headings, hero section, etc should be focused on meeting this goal)
  3. Make sure your website is about your customer and the problem they need solved (your website is about connecting with them and guiding them on their journey, not just talking about yourself)
  4. Include social proof that will resonate with these customers and support your goal (testimonials, user reviews)
  5. Include a call to action that is impossible to miss – once someone can see that you are offering the exact solution they need, you want it to be easy for them to take the next step. Your call to action should be a button directly to the product they need, or to a call calendar to book their discovery call. You want the action to require as few clicks as possible so that you don’t lose people on the way.

If you do this short exercise let us know how it went! Was it easy to identify your main goal? Was it easy to take the next step? If your goal has recently changed can you identify what needs to change on your home page to support the new goal?
