The perks of using Google Workspace for your business email

Tips & Tricks

Today I want to share with you all of the reasons I think setting up your business’s website through Google Workspace is a much better option than the alternatives such as setting up email through your hosting provider.

Using Google Workspace for your email does not mean you will have an @gmail.com email address. You can set up email for your custom domain so that it can be managed through the Google suite of products while maintaining that professional touch of being able to provide people with an email address that is at your business’s domain like hello@inklingdesign.ca.

So let’s get into it:

1. Up-time and reliability:

Having your email hosted through Google rather than your site’s hosting provider means that if your hosting is down or experiencing any connection issues, you’ll still be able to access your email since it is hosted separately. Downtime with Google is way less common than it is with hosting providers.

2. Flexibility:

It’s not uncommon for business to have to switch web hosting providers occasionally – either due to poor service, high costs or a change in server requirements among other reasons. In the event that your site needs to be migrated to a new environment, it will be a smoother process if you use Google Workspace for your email since no changes will be required for your email accounts. You won’t have to recreate accounts in a new environment or import your mailbox to ensure you don’t lose any messages.

3. Access to Google Drive and other Productivity Apps:

Google’s suite of productivity apps makes sharing documents with others (both inside and outside of your organization) a breeze. This combined with the ability to collaborate in real time means you don’t have to worry whether someone on your team has the most recent version of any document or that you might save over someone else’s work. It also means your data and documents are securely stored in the cloud.

4. Searchability:

Because your email and files areas have the power of Google’s search included in them, it so much easier to track down an email or file when you’re doing a search.

5. Spam Filter:

I’ve worked with a lot of email accounts created through hosting providers and it is extremely common for users to complain about the level of spam they receive. Google has much more advanced spam filters that help keep your inbox clean of any unwanted messages.
